The NSW Electoral Commission finished counting for Lake Macquarie council yesterday.
We now have (for the first time) two Greens councillors on Lake Macquarie Council: Phillipa Parsons (East Ward) and Hannah Gissane (North Ward).
Unfortunately, Suzanne Pritchard (West Ward) missed out, however, she increased the Greens vote significantly to 13% putting it on a par with the rest of Lake Macquarie.
The election of Greens to Lake Macquarie Council is a historic moment for local Greens.
Congratulations to Phillipa and Hannah, and to all those Greens who assisted with the Lake Macquarie campaign.

Lord Mayoral candidate Michael Osborne says that Labor’s Newcastle council team is preferencing an electricity privatisation advocate, despite overwhelming opposition in both the general community and among Newcastle Labor voters to the Iemma/Costa power sell-off plan, according to The Greens Lord Mayoral candidate, Michael Osborne.

With only four weeks remaining to the Local Government Elections on 13th September, we appeal to members to contact us URGENTLY to offer your assistance.
Help is particularly needed for:
* Staffing the Campaign Office on week-days between 10.00 am - 5.00 pm
* Phoning members & supporters in the Office on week-nights, 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm
and Saturdays-Sundays.
* Letterboxing leaflets in your suburb
* Handing out How-to-Votes at a polling booth on Election Day - and on pre-polling booths
in the week before 13th September.
