Two Greens on Lake Macquarie Council

The NSW Electoral Commission finished counting for Lake Macquarie council yesterday.

We now have (for the first time) two Greens councillors on Lake Macquarie Council: Phillipa Parsons (East Ward) and Hannah Gissane (North Ward).

Unfortunately, Suzanne Pritchard (West Ward) missed out, however, she increased the Greens vote significantly to 13% putting it on a par with the rest of Lake Macquarie.

The election of Greens to Lake Macquarie Council is a historic moment for local Greens.

Congratulations to Phillipa and Hannah, and to all those Greens who assisted with the Lake Macquarie campaign.

The Greens have got it right on donations - Michael Duffy, SMH blogger

“I’m not a great supporter of many environmental policies, but I’ll be voting Green on Saturday because the party’s got it right on the biggest issue in town.” Michael Duffy, Sydney Morning Herald, 11 September 2008.
